Thank you again for your recent purchase of Dr. Hess Products. If you have not already received your order, it should be arriving within a day or two. I wanted to take a minute and answer some frequently asked questions.
What is in Dr Hess Udder Ointment?
The formula for Dr Hess Udder Ointment has evolved over the years as new healing and skin moisturizing ingredients were recognized. We have maintained all of the original ingredients and have added to it additional moisturizers such as Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Jojoba Seed Oil, Shea Butter and more. Dr Hess Udder Ointment contains 13 emollients or skin moisturizers/softeners as well as a blood circulating and oxygenating ingredient, Menthyl Salicylate (which also gives it the minty smell, and a few antibacterial agents.) A complete listing of ingredients is available on the label or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why does it work so well?
Dr Hess Udder Ointment works so effectively because it also contains an ingredient which opens skin pores. Once the pores are open, the 13 emollients are allowed to enter deep into the skin and begin the healing process. And is it all natural? The one non-natural ingredient, petrolatum (same as Vaseline) has a characteristic of then rising to the surface of the skin acting as a protectorant against further skin damage and allowing the emollients time to heal and soften the skin.
Dr. Hess Udder Ointment is heavily based in Lanolin. Why?
Medical grade lanolin is a natural ingredient extracted from the wool of sheep. Is used as a cream to soothe skin, as it is hypoallergenic and bacteriostatic. In this form it is used by some breastfeeding mothers on sore and cracked nipples. This grade of lanolin can also be used to treat chapped lips, diaper rash, dry skin, itchy skin, rough feet, minor cuts, minor burns and skin abrasions. Many varieties of shaving cream contain lanolin. As an ointment base, it is readily absorbed through skin, facilitating absorption of the medicinal chemicals it carries. Some folk medicine traditions use lanolin in the nose, in small amounts, to treat head colds.
